Homework

Good afternoon,

The students have been studying Fair Trade over the past 2 weeks.  They have begun writing a letter to Hershey's Chocolate Company convincing them to participate in Fair Trade.  Each student has completed a plan.  We have done an example of a text together including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

The students were given time in class over the past few days to work on it.  I will give them another 30 minutes tomorrow as well.  It will be due by Thursday.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

Homework

Good afternoon,

I will be giving students a Math quiz on Tuesday to cover the unit of long multiplication.

I sent home a sheet last week demonstrating the different strategies which were taught in class.  I have told the students that they are to choose the strategy they are most comfortable with.  We have also completed centres where the students were able to practice their skills.

To practice at home, parents may wish to create their own questions (2 digits x 2 digits e.g. 45x36).

I am also asking students to finish recopying their speech over the weekend.  Once again, we will be presenting the classroom speeches this Thursday (the 12th).

As always, please let me know if you have any questions.

WISE Presentation

Good morning,

We were fortunate enough to have 2 presentations by Jenna who is part of the WISE program at U of M (Wonen in Science and Engineering).

The first presentation, the students had the opportunity to learn about the heart and were able to dissect a pig's heart.

The next presentation was based on different chemistry experiments.

Thanks to all our patrols for working hard even in the cold winter weather!!

Another big thanks to all the parents who came with us to the Christmas Cheer Board and to the Museum for Human Rights. This was a worthwhile excursion and the students really felt good about their hard work after we were done!
