The grade 5 students were fortunate enough to have a second presentation by WISE. This time around, the theme was liquids (acids and bases). The students assisted with different experiments.

WISE presentation
Good afternoon,
5-22 was fortunate enough to have Jenna from the WISE program (Women in Sceience and Engineering) at Universite de Saint-Boniface visit our classroom. She discussed the different types of simple machines and their uses. The students also created their own simple machine.

Math Quiz
Good morning,
I will be giving the students a quiz to cover our unit on division. I will be giving them some questions to cover 3 digits divided by 2 digits equations on Wednesday and on Thursday, I will give them basic division questions as well as questions with remainders.
We have discussed different strategies to solve long equations and I have sent home a paper demonstrating the different strategies. The students have also been participating in different Math centres in order to prepare and to practice. We will also do an in class review tomorrow and I will also ask some students to come to Faisons nos devoirs for extra practice.

Science Quiz
Good afternoon,
I will be giving the students a Science quiz on Thursday. We have gone over the following material:
- Compare 2 food labels and answer questions
- The definition of fibre, lipids, glucose, protein, vitamins
- Understanding and identifying the portions of the food guide for their age group
- Critical thinking questions (for example, why is it important to eat a variety of foods)
We will do a review in class tomorrow and they have their booklets in their agenda to study.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions. If your child was not at school, I will work with them tomorrow.
