Social Studies Quiz

Good afternoon,

I will be giving the students a quiz in Social Studies on Wednesday on the Fur Trade Cluster.

I sent home a sheet outlining what they need to study as well as their booklets.  The students also put a star on the pages they need to study.

The quiz will cover the Hudson Bay Company and the North West Company, the importance of the beaver, locating different forts on a map and the importance of the forts.

We will do an in class review on Monday.

I will not give any LCM until after the quiz.

Track and Field

Good morning,

There is a possibility of Track and Field being cancelled tomorrow due to the weather.  Information will be posted on the divisional website (www.sjsd.net).  The rain date is scheduled for the following week (Thursday June 6th).

In the event that it does not rain, the students should bring a bag lunch, sunscreen and water.

Home Reading Assignment

Good morning,

I will be sending home a reading assignment today called Jimmy Goes Home.  The students are to read the short story and answer the questions with a complete sentence.

The assignment is due on Friday.  If they do complete it before Friday, they will not have to do Home Reading for the rest of the week.

If it is not completed by Friday, I will ask them to stay in during the lunch recess to complete it.

Science quiz

Good morning,

I will be giving the students a quiz in Science on Friday.  It will cover experiments we have done as well as videos and notes on the cluster of solid, gas, and liquids.  They will also need to know the name of the changes (eg. liquid to gas = evaporation) and whether or not we add or take heat away.

I have sent a note home as well as their booklet to study.

We will do a review on Thursday.

Poems

Good evening,

Unfortunately I will not be in tomorrow.

The students will instead present the poems on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.  They will have the long weekend to practice.

Math quiz

Good evening,

I just wanted to clarify the material that will be covered on the quiz.

We have been adding and subtracting decimal numbers.  That portion will be on Wednesday.

Thursday will cover equivalent fractions (eg. 1/2=3/6), comparing fractions (1/2>1/3) and turning fractions into decimal numbers (eg. 3/4=75/100=0.75).  We have practiced looking at a hundreds chart and seeing how many ways it can be divided.  It can be divided into tens (1/10=10/100=0.1), into fives (1/5=20/100=0.2), into quarters (1/4=25/100=0.25) and into halves (1/2=50/100=0.50)/

They were also playing a game called Tony's pizza game.  If you go on google and type in the name, it will bring up the game.
